LOL News: Evil Geniuses upset FlyQuest in LCS Spring Split

First-place FlyQuest lost on Friday while their four nearest pursuers all win as Week 6 of the League Championship Series Spring Split concluded.

Third-place Evil Geniuses (9-4) upset FlyQuest (11-2), and second-place Cloud9 (10-3) defeated last-place Dignitas (1-12). Fourth-place Golden Guardians (8-5) downed Immortals (3-10), and fifth-place Counter Logic Gaming (7-6) topped 100 Thieves (5-8).

Rounding out the day’s action, TSM (6-7) earned a victory over Team Liquid (5-8).

The 10 teams in the top North American League of Legends circuit will play every other team twice through March 17. The first- through fourth-place teams will then head to the upper-bracket semifinals of the double-elimination playoffs. The fifth- and sixth-place teams will enter the playoffs in the lower bracket.

The winner and runner-up in the playoff final will earn berths in the Mid-Season Invitational along with other teams from LoL leagues worldwide. The LCS Spring Split carries a $200,000 prize pool, with the champion earning $100,000.

On Friday, Evil Geniuses posted a 40-minute win in blue against FlyQuest. South Korea’s Kim “Ssumday” Chan-ho logged a 6-0-4 kill-death-assist ratio for Evil Geniuses. Another South Korean, Lee “VicLa” Dae-kwang, wound up at 3-5-3 for FlyQuest.

Cloud9 topped Dignitas in 30 minutes on blue behind a 5-1-3 effort from Australia’s Ibrahim “Fudge” Allami. Denmark’s Nicolaj “Jensen” Jensen posted a 6-1-1 K-D-A ratio for Dignitas.

Golden Guardians, playing on red, defeated Immortals in 34 minutes. South Korea’s Kim “Gori” Tae-woo posted a 4-3-6 K-D-A ratio for Golden Guardians. Sweden’s Onur Can “Bolulu” Demirol finished at 5-1-1 for Immortals.

Counter Logic Gaming won in 30 minutes on blue against 100 Thieves. The United States’ Cristian “Palafox” Palafox amassed a 6-0-7 K-D-A ratio for Counter Logic Gaming. Canada’s Milan “Tenacity” Oleksij contributed a 2-3-1 K-D-A.

TSM recorded a 33-minute win on red against Team Liquid. Canada’s Jason “WildTurtle” Tran had a 6-0-3 K-D-A ratio for TSM, while Australia’s Harry “Haeri” Kang ended up at 1-2-1 for Team Liquid.

Week 7 opens Thursday with five matches:
