LOL News: Dignitas headed to playoffs after comeback win at LCS Summer Split

Dignitas rallied for a 2-1 win over Immortals on Sunday to close group-stage action at the League Championship Series Summer Split.

After Immortals earned a 42-minute victory on red, Dignitas responded by prevailing in 44 minutes on blue and in 25 minutes on red. Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen carried the winners with 12 kills and 21 assists against just five deaths.

Cloud9 blanked FlyQuest 2-0 in Sunday’s other match, winning twice on red — in 30 minutes and in 39 minutes.

Now that the group stage is complete, the playoff field has been set. As the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds, respectively, Team Liquid and Cloud9 are already in the upper-bracket semifinals, while FlyQuest, Dignitas, 100 Thieves and NRG are in the upper-bracket quarterfinals.

Shopify Rebellion and Immortals were eliminated.

Eight teams fought for six spots in the League of Legends Summer Split’s double-elimination playoff bracket.

All group-play matches were best-of-three, while the playoff matches are best-of-five. The winner of the tournament will take home $100,000 of the $200,000 prize pool, with the top three teams qualifying for the World Championship.

The playoffs begin Saturday with one match:
–Dignitas vs. 100 Thieves (upper-bracket quarterfinal)
