“Lights Out” is a 2024 American action thriller directed by Christian Sesma and featuring Frank Grillo, Mekhi Phifer, Jaime King, Dermot Mulroney, and Scott Adkins.
Michael “Duffy” Duffield, a homeless veteran, encounters Max Bomer, an ex-convict, who recognizes Duffy’s abilities during a bar altercation. Bomer proposes a lucrative opportunity for Duffy to participate in clandestine fighting competitions.
Duffy, played by Frank Grillo, is a wandering military veteran troubled by his war experiences and the loss of his fellow soldiers. This prevents him from establishing roots due to the turmoil his time on active duty produced. He travels from one location to another with only a bag, driven by the goal of earning sufficient funds to reach his next destination. He engages in a physical altercation at a roadhouse bar after someone attempts to deceive him during a poker game and effortlessly defeats a group of aggressive individuals.
Specific intense fight sequences are exciting and engaging, especially involving Duffy in the U.S. military abroad, among the highlights of this crime action thriller.
