Donald Hand Jr. tossed in a game-high 26 points and added seven rebounds to lead Boston College to a 72-64 victory over visiting Le Moyne on Sunday afternoon in Chestnut Hill, Mass.

Fred Payne added a career-high 22 points for the Eagles (7-6). Payne also had seven rebounds.

Boston College had its largest lead of the game, 67-58, with 1:05 to play, but Le Moyne kept things interesting by scoring the next six points. Hand then made two free throws to put Boston College up 70-64 with 18 seconds to play.

The victory improved Boston College’s home record to 6-2.

Shilo Jackson, a 6-foot-9 forward, had 19 points and 15 rebounds for Le Moyne, a third-year Division I program. Jackson entered the game leading the Dolphins in both scoring (14.6) and rebounding (8.4).

Le Moyne (5-8) had three other players score in double figures. Deng Garang had 14, Trent Mosquera tossed in 13 and Tennessee Rainwater came off the bench and finished with 12.

The loss extended Le Moyne’s losing streak to three games.

Le Moyne point guard Jakai Sanders picked up his fourth foul with 16:54 to play and was held to six points. He sat the final eight minutes of the first half because of foul trouble.

LeMoyne used a 9-0 run to take an 18-15 lead, but Boston College responded with a 6-0 spurt to go up by three. A Jackson layup gave the Dolphins a 24-23 advantage, but the Eagles had a 30-29 lead at halftime.

Payne and Jackson both scored 15 points in the opening 20 minutes.

Le Moyne led 54-50 with 8:36 left in the game, but Boston College regained the lead on a Boden Kapke dunk that made it 57-55 with 5:58 to play. The Dolphins trailed the rest of the way.

Boston College began the day ranked last among ACC teams in 3-point field goal percentage (28.4%), but made 9 of 23 (39.1%) attempts from behind the 3-point arc.

Kapke had a team-high 11 rebounds.
