Late foul, clutch free throws help Oklahoma State survive Kansas State

Vyctorius Miller hit three free throws with 2.8 seconds left to give Oklahoma State an 84-83 Big 12 win over Kansas State in Stillwater, Okla. on Saturday.

The Cowboys (14-4, 2-3 Big 12) were down by two when they inbounded the ball with four seconds left.

Miller was trapped in the corner and had to make an off-balance 3-pointer attempt. Abdi Bashir Jr. fouled Miller on the shot to send him to the line.

P.J. Haggerty, who led the Wildcats (9-9, 0-5) with 21 points, nailed a jumper with 49 seconds left to give Kansas State an 83-81 lead.

Anthony Roy led the Cowboys with 23 points off the bench, and Parsa Fallah added 17.

The Cowboys led by as many as 10 points with 17:22 left, but Haggerty and Nate Johnson each nailed a 3-pointer to tie the game at 61 with 12:59 left.

Neither team would lead by more than four the rest of the way.

The game went back and forth for much of the first half until the Cowboys went on a 7-2 run in the final 2:04 to take a 48-43 lead into the break.

The Wildcats turned the ball over nine times in the first half compared to just three for Oklahoma State.

Bashir tied the game at 41 with a 3-pointer with 3:20 left in the half.

Roy started the Oklahoma State run with a layup. He was then fouled off the ball on the next possession and hit a pair of free throws to make it 45-41.

Fallah nailed a 3-pointer with 47 seconds left to give the Cowboys a 48-41 lead.

Khamari McGriff scored on a layup to get the Wildcats back within five at halftime.

McGriff had 14 points before fouling out with 6:02 left.

The teams were identical from the floor in the first half with both hitting 45.9% of their shots (17 of 37).

The Wildcats were 8-for-21 from the 3-point line and the Cowboys nailed 5 of 12 3-pointers over the opening 20 minutes.

The free-throw line was where the Cowboys took the advantage, hitting all nine attempt from the stripe, including Fallah going 4-for-4.

The Wildcats only took one free throw the entire first half.

Roy led the Cowboys in scoring the first half with 13 points on 4-of-6 shooting. Bashir led Kansas State with 12 points on 4-of-8 from outside the arc.
