The Instagram post doesn’t say who Gaga might play, but one possibility is Joker’s long-term partner Harley Quinn who played by Margot Robbie in the DCEU. However, the film is said to include more melodies, which would make Gaga a natural fit. Phillips previously announced on Instagram that the sequel, Joker: Folie à Deux, would be released in June.
The plot of the Joker sequel has so far remained a mystery, but Todd Phillips will come back as director. He co-wrote the script with Scott Silver, as he did for the first film. Gaga may play Harley Quinn, the Arkham Asylum shrink who falls in love with her patient Arthur Fleck, known as the Joker. Gaga’s version of the personality will exist in a different DC universe than Margot Robbie’s in the Suicide Squad films.

The Jokers box office success and Academy Award nominations that included Best Picture made a sequel an ideal choice. In 2019, “Joker” became a box office phenomenon, grossing well over $1 billion globally to become the highest-grossing R-rated film in history. The film received 11 Academy Award nominations, including best picture and director, after winning the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival.
