New York Knicks rookie center Ariel Hukporti sustained a torn meniscus in his left knee during Wednesday’s victory against the Philadelphia 76ers.
ESPN announced Thursday that Hukporti is expected to be sidelined for four-to-six weeks after getting injured in his first career start.
In the lineup for injured star Karl-Anthony Towns, Hukporti exited in the fourth quarter of the 110-105 win at Madison Square Garden.
Hukporti, a second-round pick (58th overall) in the 2024 NBA Draft, originally appeared to suffer the injury during a third-quarter collision.
The 7-footer played 16 minutes against the 76ers and finished with eight points, two rebounds and one blocked shot.
Hukporti, 22, is averaging 1.9 points, 2.0 rebounds and 8.7 minutes in 25 games (one start) this season.
