As there are just days before the coronation of King Charles III at Westminster Abbey in London, more details about the traditional ceremony, with modern inputs are emerging. Prince William is playing a key role and will plead allegiance to the king. His son Prince George will be the youngest future king to take part in the official coronation ceremony of King Charles.
Prince William will be the only royal member to take the vow that is called the Homage of Royal Blood. The 40-year-old heir to the throne will kneel in front of the King after he has been crowned. Prince William will place his hands between those of King Charles and say the following words: “I, William, Prince of Wales, pledge my loyalty to you and faith and truth I will bear unto you, as your liege man of life and limb. So, help me God.”

The liturgy of the coronation service that was released by the Archbishop of Canterbury’s office confirmed the “words of fealty” and the role of Prince William in the coronation ceremony.

A new vow called Homage of the the People has been added to the ceremony by the Church of England where the general public can join national figures and declare their allegiance to the sovereign. Following this the Archbishop of Canterbury will lead the people and acclaim “God Save The King” and the response will be “God save King Charles, Long Live King Charles, May The King live forever.”
As Britain has become a multicultural society representative from Jewish, Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, and Buddhist faiths are expected to state the following words: “As neighbors in faith, we acknowledge the value of public service. We unite with people of all faiths and beliefs in thanksgiving, and in service with you for the common good.”

Other firsts in the coronation of King Charles include a female bishop taking part in the coronation services as well as the use of traditional languages. The service will include a Welsh prayer and Veni Creator a hymn that will be sung in several languages including Welsh, Scottish and Irish Gaelic. Nine-year old Prince George will serve as a Page of Honor at the coronation along with other grandchildren of King Charles and Queen Camilla.
Prince Charles will also recite a personal prayer that says, “Grant that I may be a blessing to all thy children, of every faith and conviction, that together we may discover the ways of gentleness and be led into the path of peace.”
