As the date of the official coronation of King Charles III at Westminster Abbey approaches, Buckingham Palace has released the invitations for the May 6 event. King Charles III and his wife Queen Camilla will be crowned as monarchs. Earlier, Camilla was referred to as the Queen Consort. The recent release shows her title as Queen. On Tuesday, President Joe Biden spoke to the king and said that first lady Jill Biden would attend the coronation ceremony, according to a statement from the White House.
Camilla will be crowned as Queen alongside Charles who will be crowned as King on May 6 at the historic Westminster Abbey, in London. Several royals and world leaders are expected to attend the coronation. The king’s son Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle, who stepped down from royal duties, have not yet confirmed whether they would be attending the coronation, although they have been invited.
The invitation that was publicly released by the palace on Tuesday has been designed by Andrew Jamieson, who is a heraldic artist and manuscript illuminator. The printing will be done on a recycled card and it will contain gold foil detailing.

The invitation’s design gives a shout out to King Charles’s constant support for the protection of the environment and for conservation management. The palace explained that the ancient motif of the Green Man featured on the card is a “figure from British folklore.” It is a symbol of “spring and rebirth” and seeks to “celebrate the new reign.”
The Green Man’s shape is formed using leaves of oak, ivy and hawthorn and the design also consists of “emblematic flowers of the United Kingdom.” The Green Man is crowned with natural foliage.
Other details from the palace include an announcement that there will be eight pages of honor, four each for Charles and Camilla. They will be either family friends or close relatives of the couple, and nine-year old Prince George, who is the eldest grandson of King Charles, will be one of the pages.
