King Charles III will deliver his second Christmas message on December 25, 2023. The Monday message is veering away from tradition as the location has moved away from St. George’s Chapel in Windsor to Buckingham Palace, in London. A photo released by the Palace features King Charles standing next to a living Christmas Tree that has been decorated with eco-friendly decorations and baubles that are made from natural and sustainable materials.
In 2022 King Charles III had delivered his first Christmas message from St. George’s Chapel in Windsor, in front of a cut tree, months after his mother the beloved Queen Elizabeth II had passed. This year, his Christmas message is not only being broadcast from the Center Room at Buckingham Palace but also features a living Christmas tree, complete with roots that will be replanted. The tree has also been decorated sustainably.
The living Christmas tree has been decorated with eco-friendly materials such as hand-turned wooden bells, dried sliced oranges, and pinecones. It also has decorations made of blown glass and paper snowflakes. It is not only very attractive to look at but is also sustainable, keeping in mind the concerns King Charles has for the environment and sustainability from when he was a young man.
The photo released by the Palace shows King Charles standing next to the beautifully decorated living Christmas tree as he records his Christmas message. As the monarch records his message, the Queen Victoria Memorial can be seen in the background. The King has worn a blue suit for this year’s Christmas address. He has worn the same suit for the Christmas message he delivered in 2022.
There is no information available on the content of his Christmas speech as that remains a closely guarded secret till it is broadcast across the U.K., Australia, New Zealand, and other countries. There is a possibility that King Charles might address environmental issues, as he has written the speech himself.
