From the past year, since she filed for divorce in February 2021, Kim Kardashian has been looking forward to being “single” again. On Wednesday, a judge granted Kim her request to end her marriage with rapper Kanye West. Her wish has been finally fulfilled after facing weeks of harassment of her current boyfriend Pete Davidson publicly on social media with memes and through lyrics in her ex-husband’s latest album Donda 2.
According to TMZ, who first reported the news, Kim attended the court hearing on Wednesday through a video call. Although Kanye was absent, his lawyer did not object to the restoration of Kim’s status to “single.” However, the lawyer mentioned three conditions:
The right to get reimbursement of money that was supposed to be divided would be preserved in case either of them died. The judge accepted this condition.
Kim would not transfer assets in trust. This condition was rejected by the judge.
If Kim remarried, she would waive “marital privilege.” The judge rejected this condition as well.
Kim also had to answer a series of questions that were asked. They included whether she was having problems in her relationship and whether she thought her marriage could be saved through counseling.
Since December, the reality star has been asking the judge for restoration of her single status. The outlet reported that documents from her stated: “I very much desire to be divorced.” She also mentioned that she had asked Kanye to maintain privacy about their divorce proceedings.
Instead “Ye”, as he prefers to be called instead of Kanye, bombarded social media with weird, rude and childish posts and memes against her current boyfriend Pete Davidson, a comedian who is known for his appearances in Saturday Night Live (SNL). Kanye, 44 was also linked with Julia Fox, 31 but the romance was short and he is now linked with Chaney Jones, 21.
Initially, when Kim filed for divorce there was an amicable relationship between them as they brought up their four children. However, when Kim started dating Pete Davidson, whom her close family and friends say has been good for her, Kanye went off the rails with some of his comments and threats. It is hoped that both Kim and Kanye return to the early amicable days they shared not only for a peaceful, less dramatic future but also for the sake of their children.
