Walmart Inc. (WMT) is expected to announce a revenue increase and sustained expansion of its e-commerce sales for the holiday quarter when it reports earnings early Tuesday. However, analysts anticipate some softness in comparable store sales.
According to Visible Alpha’s analyst projections, Walmart is predicted to record $170.33 billion in revenue and $4.36 billion in net income, or $1.61 per share, in its fiscal 2024 fourth quarter, which ended in January. While the retail giant’s net income is expected to dip by 30% compared to the fourth quarter of fiscal 2023, revenue is expected to be roughly 4% higher than the previous year.
Walmart’s profits on Tuesday came after the company had consecutive solid quarters in 2023, buoyed by increased revenue from basics like food and gasoline. According to Bank of America Securities analysts, lower grocery costs and a slowing in general item sales are expected to halt Walmart’s recent gains despite recent credit card usage figures seeming promising.
