Keshon Gilbert scored 16 points on 6-for-9 shooting, and No. 3 Iowa State cruised to an 83-51 win over Omaha in a nonconference matchup Sunday afternoon in Ames, Iowa.

Milan Momcilovic and Joshua Jefferson added 13 points apiece for Iowa State (9-1), which won its sixth game in a row. Tamin Lipsey finished with 11 points and Nate Heise chipped in 10 off the bench.

Tony Osburn scored 13 points to lead Omaha (4-9). Isaac Ondekane finished with 12 points and JJ White scored 10.

Iowa State shot 53.3 percent (32 of 60) from the field and 30 percent (6 of 20) from beyond the arc. Omaha shot 35.7 percent (20 of 56) overall and 26.1 percent (6 of 23) from deep.

The Cyclones outrebounded Iowa 39-27 and finished with a 50-20 advantage on points in the paint. Iowa State also posted a 24-11 edge in bench points.

Omaha started strong in the first 12 minutes.

Osburn had a steal and a layup to put the Mavericks on top 19-18 with 8:24 remaining in the first half. The basket capped a 9-2 run for Omaha.

Iowa State pulled even at 19-all when Momcilovic made one of two free-throw attempts with 7:49 left in the half. Gilbert put the Cyclones back on top 21-19 with a layup off an assist from Curtis Jones with 7:22 to go before the break.

The Cyclones never looked back as they led the rest of the way.

Gilbert gave Iowa State a 41-23 halftime lead when he made a layup with 15 seconds remaining before the intermission.

Omaha struggled to keep pace in the second half. The Mavericks fell behind by 30 when Iowa State’s Brandon Chatfield scored on a layup to make it 75-45 with six minutes left.

Demarion Watson made a jump shot to increase Iowa State’s lead to 81-51 with 2:44 remaining. Watson’s basket ensured that the Cyclones have scored at least 80 points in each of their first 10 games to start the season.

Omaha’s Marquel Sutton, who entered the game with a team-high 16.2 points per game, finished with three points on 1-for-7 shooting.
