Every year, members of the Royal Family spend Christmas at their Sandringham Estate. The royals are celebrating their first Christmas without the Queen since her death in September at the age of 96. This year marked the return of the royal family’s traditional Christmas outing after the family had celebrated separately for the previous two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kate Middleton and her family joined King Charles III for Christmas morning service in Sandringham, Norfolk, today, carrying on a royal family tradition started by the Queen decades ago.
The Princess of Wales displayed the holiday spirit in a festive olive monochrome ensemble . Kate wore a green feathered wide-brimmed hat with a matching Alexander McQueen military-style coat dress and brown boots. She wore gold dangle earrings and wore her hair straight and down.
The princess frequently recycles her outfits by changing up her hairstyles and accessories. She has previously worn the coat dress, as pointed out by Vogue. Kate first wore the bespoke gown for engagements in Bradford in January 2020. She accessorized the ensemble a black purse, with black stilettos, and green-and-gold earrings at the time.
Kate accompanied her husband, Prince William, and their three children, 9-year-old Prince George, 7-year-old Princess Charlotte, and 4-year-old Prince Louis, to the service. It was the youngest prince’s first appearance at the Christmas Day service. He was dressed in navy, and Kate was seen holding his hand.
This is the royal family’s second appearance as a whole since Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan premiered. None of the royals have commented on it, and their social media presence has remained unaffected.
Kate also started a new royal holiday tradition. On December 15 at Westminster Abbey, she hosted her second annual Christmas carol concert, which aired on Christmas Eve. The taping took place the same day that the second installment of Harry & Meghan was released.
