The photo appears to have been taken in Windsor a few days ago by Princess Kate and posted on the royal couple’s joint account. They also posted a picture on April 23, when Prince Louis turned six. Kensington Palace said that the photo had not been edited after an earlier Mother’s Day photo taken by Kate Middleton was criticized as having been edited.
Princess Charlotte is smiling widely into the camera. She is wearing a maroon cardigan over a dark blue t-shirt and a denim skirt. Her arm is leaning against a bush of pink and white flowers. The caption on the photo reads: “Happy 9th birthday, Princess Charlotte,” followed by a cake emoji. The next line says, “Thank you for all the kind messages today.”
Princess Charlotte is the only daughter of Prince William and Princess Catherine. She has two brothers: Prince George, who is ten years old, and Prince Louis, who is six years old.
The Prince and Princess of Wales have been facing tough times after Kate Middleton was diagnosed with cancer. Prince William briefly stepped back from royal duties. He stepped up to look after his family but returned to them.
