The Prince and Princess of Wales held a private meeting with the families of three children who were killed when they were part of a dance group in Southport on Thursday. Kate Middleton made a surprise visit with her husband William.
This was her first public appearance after she was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year. She wore a long, autumnal brown coat, high heels, and simple jewelry.
The royal couple had a meeting with the families of the three children who died after they were stabbed. Ten other people, including eight children, were injured in the stabbing attack when they attended a Taylor Swift-themed summer dance class.
Prince William and Princess Kate met the families of six-year-old Bebe King, seven-year-old Elsie Dot Stancombe, and nine-year-old Alice Dasilva Aguiar. Axel Rudakubana stabbed the children on July 29, 2024. He was arrested at the scene.
The then 17-year-old has been charged with multiple counts of murder as well as attempted murder.
Prince William and Princess Catherine later met with emergency workers. They conveyed the families’ gratitude to the police and health services workers. Kate Middleton told the workers they had helped these families in their “darkest times” and added, “On behalf of them, thank you.”
Prince William told the emergency workers to “please take your time, don’t rush back to work, do whatever you need to do” and more.
The royal couple also donated to a fundraiser. This fundraiser will provide physical as well as psychological help to the emergency workers who had been involved in dealing with the attack as well as with the riots that followed after the senseless attack.
William and Kate Middleton posted a photo on their official Prince and Princess of Wales social media account. They said they continued to “stand with everyone in Southport” and that the community would “remain in their prayers and more.”
