The Kansas Jayhawks maintained their hold on the top spot of the Associated Press Top 25 poll released Monday, just ahead of the surging Auburn Tigers and a new-look top five.
Meanwhile, two-time defending champion UConn (5-3) dropped 23 spots to No. 25 after losing three games at the Maui Invitational.
The Jayhawks (7-0) earned 35 first-place votes after defeating Duke while Auburn (7-0) snagged 26 after winning the title in Maui.
Tennessee (7-0) rose four spots to No. 3, just ahead of archrival Kentucky (7-0) at No. 4, with Marquette (8-0) ascending five spots to No. 5.
Iowa State (5-1), Gonzaga (7-1), Purdue (7-1), Duke (5-2) and Alabama (6-2) round out the top 10.
Six teams entered the Top 25 this week, headlined by Oregon (8-0) at No. 12. No. 16 Memphis (6-1), No. 18 Pittsburgh (7-1), No. 19 Illinois (6-1), No. 21 Oklahoma (7-0) and No. 24 San Diego State (4-2) also cracked the poll this week.
Indiana, Arkansas, Creighton, Xavier, Arizona and Mississippi State fell out.
