The Golden Globes will be hosted by stand-up comedian Jerrod Carmichael next month, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association said on Thursday. Since a 2021 incident involving the H.F.P.A., the organization that organizes the Globes, and its ethics and diversity, this is the first time the tarnished film and television awards ceremony has been aired.
The highly praised HBO stand-up special “Rothaniel,” in which Carmichael came out as gay, may be the work for which he is most remembered. Additionally, from 2015 to 2017, he starred in the NBC sitcom “The Carmichael Show.”
Prior to a few years ago, nominations for the Globes were regarded as a crucial sign of the awards season, indicating who was doing well and who was struggling in the race for Oscars and other honors. It’s uncertain how seriously Hollywood and its privy industry of award strategists and soothsayers will take Monday’s announcement due to the constant stream of controversies and star defections that have lessened that influence. Fans from around the world are super excited.
