Jazz send Kings to franchise record-tying 14th straight loss

Jaren Jackson Jr. scored 23 points while Lauri Markkanen added 19 points and seven rebounds to lead the Utah Jazz to a 121-93 victory over the Sacramento Kings in Salt Lake City on Wednesday night.

With their 14th consecutive loss, the Kings equaled the franchise mark set by the Cincinnati Royals in 1959-60 and matched by the Royals in 1971-72.

Isaiah Collier tallied 12 points and 14 assists to help the Jazz win their second straight. Brice Sensabuagh chipped in 19 points off the bench.

Jackson made his home debut after being traded to Utah from Memphis on Feb. 3. He has scored at least 20 points in all three games with the Jazz.

Utah was potent offensively over four quarters. The Jazz shot 54.7% from the field and made 15 3-pointers. They outscored Sacramento 58-42 in the paint and 25-6 on fastbreak points.

DeMar DeRozan led the Kings with 20 points and Devin Carter added 19. Sacramento trailed by double digits for 40 minutes and went 7 of 33 from 3-point range.

Markkanen and Sensabaugh combined to score five straight baskets to power a 24-3 run that gave Utah a 39-15 lead with 35 seconds left in the first quarter.

The Jazz held Sacramento without a basket for nearly six minutes, and the Kings shot 7-of-29 (24.1%) from the floor over the first 12 minutes. Utah, meanwhile, scored on seven straight possessions during its run.

Back-to-back baskets from Daeqwon Plowden and DeMar DeRozan over the first quarter’s final 11 seconds ended Sacramento’s shooting drought.

Utah did not ease off the gas pedal over the final three quarters. The Jazz built a 71-44 halftime lead. They extended it to 34 going into the fourth quarter after Sensabaugh made back-to-back layups — beating the buzzer on the second one — to put Utah up 100-66.
