Former NBA All-Star Jameer Nelson was named the general manager of the Philadelphia 76ers’ G League affiliate on Friday.

Nelson has been with the Delaware Blue Coats since November 2020, serving as an assistant general manager and 76ers scout. The team reached three straight G League Finals during that span, winning the title in 2022-23.

“Jameer has approached his front office and scouting roles with the same tenacity that he approached the game during his playing career,” 76ers president of basketball operations Daryl Morey said.

Nelson, 41, succeeds Prosper Karangwa.

A point guard, Nelson played 14 seasons with six NBA teams from 2004-18. He averaged 11.3 points, 5.1 assists and 3.0 rebounds in 878 games (639 starts) with the Orlando Magic, Dallas Mavericks, Boston Celtics, Denver Nuggets, New Orleans Pelicans and Detroit Pistons.

He was a first-round pick (20th overall) by Orlando in 2004 and made the All-Star team in 2008-09.

Nelson, a native of Chester, Pa., starred collegiately at St. Joseph’s. He led the Hawks to the Elite Eight in 2004 and was named the 2003-04 national Player of the Year.
