Jamal Murray hits 10 3-pointers as Nuggets handle Jazz

Jamal Murray matched his career high of 10 3-pointers and scored 37 points to lead the Denver Nuggets to a 130-117 victory over the Utah Jazz on Wednesday night in Salt Lake City.

Cameron Johnson had 19 points, nine rebounds and six assists and Christian Braun scored 18 points for the Nuggets (49-28), who won their seventh consecutive contest.

Denver star Nikola Jokic recorded 15 points, 17 rebounds and 12 assists for his 196th career triple-double. He stands 13 behind all-time leader Russell Westbrook.

Jonas Valanciunas added 13 points and Bruce Brown scored 11 for the Nuggets, who swept the four-game season series and defeated the Jazz for the 10th straight time.

Brice Sensabaugh made six 3-pointers and scored 28 points and Kyle Filipowski added 25 points and 12 rebounds for Utah (21-56), which lost its seventh straight game and 19th of its last 22.

Kennedy Chandler scored 16 points and fellow reserve John Konchar had 12 for the Jazz. Ace Bailey also scored 12 points for Utah but made just 5 of 17 shots.

Denver shot 48.4% from the field, including 16 of 39 from 3-point range, and held a 53-44 rebounding edge.

Utah trailed by 18 in the second quarter but moved within 99-95 on two free throws by Chandler with 10:38 left in the game.

The Nuggets answered with a 17-4 run. Murray buried his eighth 3-pointer to make it an 11-point margin before Brown followed with a layup and
Valanciunas scored four straight points to end it and make it 116-99 with 6:02 to play.

Utah ripped off nine straight points to move within eight but Denver responded with 10 in a row to seal it. Murray ended the spurt with two treys in a span of 38 seconds to give the Nuggets a 126-108 advantage with 2:01 remaining.

The Jazz shot 46.3% from the field and were 12 of 37 from long distance.

Murray made three straight 3-pointers to start the game and Johnson followed with a fourth as Denver scored the first 12 points.

Murray drilled a halfcourt shot to end the first quarter for his fifth trey as the Nuggets led 39-28.

Murray knocked down another 3-pointer to give Denver its biggest lead at 51-33 with 7:50 to go in the second quarter.

The Nuggets led 68-54 at halftime behind 20 points from Murray. Filipowski had 19 points and Sensabaugh scored 18 in the half for Utah.

Denver led 97-90 entering the final quarter.
