In a court filing, Merriman alleged that his wife engaged in disturbing behavior on Christmas Day in 2002. Merriman further stated that his wife had been ransacking their home and displayed signs of delusional thinking.

On January 12, after a brief court appearance, Jade Sasha Janks, 37, denied killing her stepfather Thomas Merriman, 64. In San Diego’s North County Superior Courthouse, Janks was charged with murder on one count and was arraigned remotely by video link.
