A’ja Wilson scored 24 points, including 14 in a dominant first quarter, and the Las Vegas Aces closed out a perfect homestand Monday with a 104-76 rout of the Los Angeles Sparks in Commissioner’s Cup action.

Las Vegas (7-1) overwhelmed Los Angeles early, closing the opening period on a 23-3 run. Both Wilson and Jackie Young, who finished with 19 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the floor, scored 14 points in the quarter — just five less each than the entire Sparks lineup.

Young surpassed 1,000 career points during the first half, adding a career milestone on an outstanding individual night. She grabbed a game-high nine rebounds to contribute to the Aces’ 42-32 advantage on the glass, and passed for five assists.

With their opening deluge, the Aces broke a franchise record set just one game prior. The 39 points they closed with in the opening 10 minutes on Monday was one more than their third-quarter output in Saturday’s 100-80 rout of Phoenix.

The consecutive blowouts wrapped up a 4-0 homestand in which Las Vegas won by an average margin of 16.5 points per game.

The Aces finished Monday’s contest 18-of-38 from 3-point range, with Kelsey Plum leading the way at 5-of-8 en route to 17 points. Plum also dished a team-high eight assists.

Chelsea Gray shot 4-of-6 from deep and finished with 14 points. Kierstan Bell — who scored a career-high 12 points — and Theresa Plaisance each made two 3-pointers off the bench.

Las Vegas hit 11 of its first 12 attempts from beyond the arc.

Los Angeles (2-5), meanwhile, shot just 5-of-23 on 3-point attempts. The Sparks never recovered from the early onslaught, and the gap ballooned to as many as 36 points in the third quarter.

Monday’s loss marked the fifth straight for the Sparks.

Chennedy Carter led Los Angeles with 17 points off the bench. Jordin Canada scored 11 points and dished nine assists, while Liz Cambage finished with 10 points facing her former team.
