Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has generally praised billionaire Elon Musk, and in a recent interview, she described him as a “brilliant man” and more. The young PM, the leader of the far-right Brothers of Italy party, has also spoken of maintaining a good relationship with the Tesla CEO even before he became an almost permanent fixture on president-elect Donald Trump’s side.
In an interview with the Italian daily Corriere della Sera published on Friday, PM Giorgia Meloni said of Elon Musk, “He is a major figure of our time, an extraordinary innovator who always has the future in mind.”
She also described him as a “brilliant man” and said engaging with him was “always exciting.”
Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has been interested in politics in the UK and Europe since he helped President Donald Trump win the November elections in the US.
Musk uses his privately owned social media platform to engage with global and local web fans. He has commented on political issues and leaders from Germany and the UK. He has also supported the AfD, a far-right party in Germany.
Italian PM Meloni also said that she had a “very good relationship” with Elon Musk in the interview that appeared in the weekend supplement of the paper. However, she also said there were some areas where both were “further apart.”
The Brothers of Italy party leader also mentioned that Elon Musk was facing backlash by some people for choosing the “wrong” camp while he had earlier been praised as a genius by the same people.
Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has also praised Giorgia Meloni in the past. He lauded her in a speech in 2024 when she received a Global Citizens Award from the Atlantic Council. It is a think tank in Washington, USA.
