Celebrity actor Johnny Depp seems to be taking aim at ex-wife Amber Heard in a duet of songs with rock guitarist Jeff Beck after winning a high-profile defamation trial last month. According to reports, the actor has composed a song on his experiences throughout the lengthy and widely publicized defamation trial against his ex-wife, Amber Heard. The song, which is set to be published on Friday, July 15, is one of two penned by the actor for an album collaboration named 18, which was recorded alongside British guitarist Jeff Beck.
“A thief is a thief … I don’t believe in humans anymore,” the actor sings on This is a Song for Miss Hedy Lamarr, a track from Depp’s album with the famed British guitarist. Depp sings on the album, “I think you’ve talked enough for one motherf–ing night,” according to the Sunday Times of London.
On another song, Sad Mother–in’ Parade, Depp takes another shot at Heard, singing, “You’re sitting there like a dog with a seven-year itch… “
The Pirates of the Caribbean actor first demanded a $50 million settlement for a 2018 Washington Post op-ed she penned in which she recounted her experiences with domestic abuse at the hands of a previous lover but did not specifically name him. Heard filed a countersuit seeking $100 million in damages. In an unusual twist, Heard’s legal team requested a mistrial on Friday, claiming that the wrong juror had been seated on the panel throughout the trial.
During his defamation trial, the celebrity actor joined Beck on stage at a number of his recent UK shows, and he is also said to be preparing on-stage performances for Beck’s upcoming European tour. Along with Depp’s two original songs, the album, which was produced over the course of three years, includes 13 cover songs by Motown musicians as well as the Beach Boys, John Lennon, Velvet Underground, and Killing Joke. The album has been in the works for three years and features versions by Motown singers as well as songs by John Lennon, the Beach Boys, and the Velvet Underground.
