INDY News: CGR signs Linus Lundqvist to multi-year contract

Chip Ganassi Racing announced a multi-year contract Thursday with driver Linus Lundqvist.

It is the first full-time ride on the IndyCar circuit for the 24-year-old Swede.

“Joining Chip Ganassi Racing is an absolute dream come true for me,” Lundqvist said. “Stepping up to race full-time in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES, and to do so with one of the most successful teams in the history of the championship, is the moment I’ve been working for throughout my career. It is hard to explain how much this means to me.”

Lundqvist brings winning credentials to CGR as the 2022 Indy NXT series champion.

He competed in three IndyCar races this season for Meyer Shank Racing, recording the fastest lap time in two of those races.

“He has shown that his on-track performance creates the racecraft separation that’s required in INDYCAR today,” CGR managing director Mike Hull said. “Growing together with Linus is what comes next.”

Lundqvist will spend time shadowing the CGR team for the final two races of the current season as he prepares for 2024.
