A nineteen-year-old illegal immigrant from Honduras was recently arrested in connection with a robbery and stabbing. The teen was already wanted for rape charges as he has been accused of raping a 14-year-old girl in Louisiana after connecting on social media. The stabbing victim was hospitalized and is stable, while the blood-covered teen was arrested by officers from the Kenner Police Department.
Police identified the immigrant after robbing and stabbing a man, whose name has not been released, on Phoenix Street in Kenner. The police officers at Kenner Police Department realized that he was the same man for whom there was an arrest warrant as he had raped a 14-year old girl, days ago.
Police say that the suspect, who has used more than one name, is an “undocumented Honduran national.” He has been arrested for armed robbery and aggravated battery as well as first degree rape and assault.
Police said that the same suspect had met a 14-year old girl at the Susan Park neighborhood after connecting on social media. He has been accused of attacking her, and holding a knife to her throat, as he raped her.
The police had been looking out for him, and a detective had also obtained a warrant for arrest days before his attempted armed robbery of a male victim.
Chief Keith Conley of the Kenner Police Department mentioned that illegal immigration made it difficult for police to identify suspects. He also said it was “a drain on police manpower” and “a financial drain on local law enforcement’s budgets and taxpayer’s money” and more.
