Dine Brands that includes the IHOP chain and Applebee’s, has rolled out its biscuit menu through the IHOP chain, nationwide. Once available only in southern states, biscuits are now expected feature in restaurant and online menus across the U.S. Although IHOP’s flagship food has been pancakes, the large chain has been adding other food items such as burritos and savory crepes and more. The chain has also upgraded its range of biscuits.
IHOP recently announced its latest quarter report and its same-store sales saw a meager growth of 2.1 percent. Its sister brand Applebee’s fared worse as it reported a fall of 1 percent in same-store sales. Dine Brands’ shares have seen a 25 percent drop to date, decreasing its market value to $856 million.
The new lineup debuting on Monday includes the following:
A breakfast biscuit sandwich that consists of two strips of hickory-smoked bacon, American cheese, cheese sauce and two fried eggs.
A chicken biscuit sandwich that contains chicken breast, hash browns, pickle chips and country gravy.
A fresh strawberries and cream biscuit that is filled with cheesecake mousse, strawberries, syrup, whipping topping and powdered sugar.
IHOP is also offering a fresh strawberries and cream biscuit combo, Buttermilk biscuit and gravy combo and buttermilk biscuit.
IHOP is offering breakfast biscuit sandwiches, with a choice of side, at $7 or $9 up to September 26, to tap into budget conscious consumers with a coffee or soda.
Its new menu launched earlier in April included the following:
Eggs Benedict
Fish and Shrimp and
Sweet and Savory Crepes.
IHOP has also brought back its popular Cinn-A-Stack pancakes and is keeping its 2021 additions include Burrito bowls. IHOP has not said that it is increasing its menu size so some of its food items might be sidelined as it introduces biscuits. However, the popular chain has not as yet indicated which items might leave its menu, after the addition of biscuits.
