The Idaho police chief in charge of the investigation into the deaths of four college students has stated that he has no regrets about how the investigation has been handled, insisting that the initial stages were correctly handled while also expressing confidence that a ‘conclusion’ will be reached.
The Moscow, Idaho police chief remains confident that a suspect will be apprehended, stating that the case involving the murder of four University of Idaho students will not go cold during an interview. On Wednesday, Moscow Police Department Chief James Fry told NBC Nightly News, “This case is not going cold.”
According to police, the four University of Idaho students, Ethan Chapin, 20; Xana Kernodle, 20; and Kaylee Goncalves, 21; Madison Mogen, 21; were stabbed to death on Nov. 13 between 3 and 4 a.m. in a Moscow, Idaho, home on King Road near the college campus.
Fry’s comments come as the quadruple murder investigation enters its fifth week without a public suspect.
Despite Fry’s apparent assurance, Moscow police have yet to name a suspect, identify a motive or locate the murder weapon six weeks after the bodies of the four students were discovered in a rental home in Moscow, Idaho, on November 13.
The Goncalves family, who launched a fundraiser earlier this month with the goal of hiring a private investigator or offering a reward for any tip that could help solve the case, recently criticized Moscow police for the way the investigation was handled in the first 48 hours after the students’ bodies were discovered.
