According to a local shop manager, Kaylee Goncalves had issues with a stalker before she and three other University of Idaho students were murdered. Goncalves, 20, Xana Kernodle, 20, Madison Mogen, 21, and Ethan Chapin, 20, were stabbed to death at a shared student house in Moscow, Idaho, in the early hours of November 13. Police have not yet identified a suspect or recovered a murder weapon over a month later.
Senior national correspondent for NewsNation Brian Entin, spoke with the manager of a Moscow vape shop, who said Goncalves and Mogen used to come in with a group and discussed Goncalves having a stalker.
He stated that always came in as a group – four or five girls always came in together. One of them openly admitted that they have had a friend stalked before, which is why he said that all of them traveled in such a large group. Entin reportedly found that it was not Goncalves, but Madison (Maddie) who said that.
Maddie said it and motioned to Kaylee, who was right next to her; it was clear that they were all trying to keep Kaylee safe and be there for her as friends. Entin reportedly revealed that Kaylee had a lot of problems with because she always felt that there was someone walking behind her. This was especially noticeable at night when they as a group were out drinking. She was always averse about going out to or coming back from bars at night.
On November 23, Moscow Police Captain Roger Lanier told reporters that they had obtained information through some of their interviews that Kaylee had commented about a stalker. On December 5, Moscow police reported an “incident” involving Kaylee and two males, but they have no evidence linking these men to the murders.
In the middle of October, the police stated that two males had been seen inside a local business. They parted ways, and one of them appeared to follow Kaylee as she walked toward her car.
The male turned away and did not make eye contact with her. Detectives supposedly contacted both men and discovered they were attempting to meet women at the business, which was confirmed by further investigation. Police and true-crime fans and sleuths are on the hunt for more clues.
Based on the information available, detectives believe this was an isolated incident rather than a pattern of stalking. There is no evidence that the two men were involved in the murders.
The Goncalves family has retained legal counsel, with her father Steven telling Fox News Digital that the police had “messed up a million times.” Investigators are looking for information on the occupants of a white Hyundai Elantra seen near the student house near the time of the murders.
