Bryan Kohberger, the 28-year-old suspect in the Idaho massacre, was apprehended after his DNA was found inside a leather knife sheath. An expert in criminology believes that Kohberger may have made a “clever move” by leaving the knife sheath at the crime scene.
Professor David Wilson, a well-known criminologist and the founding director of Birmingham City University’s Center for Applied Criminology, made an appearance on the ITV talk show This Morning. Since DNA was discovered on the knife sheath that led to Bryan’s arrest, the host, Phillip Schofield, commented that leaving the knife sheath behind might have been a “clumsy move” on Bryan’s part. Wilson, though, disagreed. He contended that DNA could be transferred from one person to another and believed that the defense might bring that up at trial.
It may have been “a remarkably clever move,” Wilson interjected, adding. He said that because one of the things that had impressed him about the accused was that he is clever and “high-functioning.” He questioned why a Ph.D. A student learning criminology, having exceptional skills and intelligence would make such a simple mistake.
The Ph.D. candidate was detained for allegedly murdering Kaylee, Madison, Ethan, and Xana, all students at Idaho University. The horrific incident took place on November 13, 2022, when Bryan Kohberger allegedly stabbed the four students. The action, according to the professor, could be a part of a complex scheme to save him from being found guilty of the alleged murders. Wilson did not, however, elaborate on the basis for his conviction.
The media site also speculated that Bryan would take advantage of double jeopardy laws by presenting the knife sheath as false proof. A suspect won’t be accused of the same offense more than once thanks to these laws. Sleuths and criminology fans are paying close attention to the case.
Wilson also provided an explanation for Kohberger’s cellphone pings, which placed him in the Moscow region on the day of the killings and in the weeks before. As Moscow is not far from Washington State University, he said it is “natural that there would be some of those towers that might ping.”
Meanwhile, Kohberger’s lawyer Jason LaBar mentioned that during their conversations prior to Bryan’s extradition from Pennsylvania to Moscow, Idaho, he was remarkably composed.
According to speculation, Kohberger left enough evidence at the crime scene to lead to his arrest but not enough to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he committed the crime. Due to laws that prevent people from being charged with the same crime twice, such a move could result in Kohberger being accused, found not guilty, and freed from the threat of arrest for the rest of his life.
