On Tuesday, Nancy Pelosi, who is the U.S. House of Representatives Speaker, said that she would run for another term as a Democrat. The veteran Congresswoman is seeking a record 19th term. She did not mention if she would continue with her leadership role in the Democratic Party. One of the reasons she cited for running was that more work had to be done “for the children.”
Pelosi said that the nation’s democracy was at risk as there were “assaults on the truth, the assault on the U.S. Capitol and the state-by-state assault on voting rights.” She said that the coming midterms were “crucial” as “our Democracy” was at stake.
She added that the Democrats didn’t “agonize.” Instead they “organize” and that was the reason why she was “running for re-election to Congress.”
