DoorDash has a long list of delivery items and has now added yet one more to the list. Customers across the U.S. can expect home delivery of coronavirus test kits. The delivery app has partnered with Vault Health and Everlywell to drop their COVID-19 kits at their customers’ doorstep. Some kits also have same day delivery.
Customers have a choice and can choose either the Vault Health Saliva Test Kit or the Everlywell DTC Kit. Both these home testing kits have been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The Everlywell Testing Kit
It is available from March 2020 at a cost of $109 dollars. Users are required to self-administer a nasal swab. The kit provides the swabs. The customer uses them to take samples from the nose and throat. There are instructions which explain the sealing process. This test can be done without supervision. They also inform the user on how send the sample to an FDA lab. A pre-paid overnight package is available in the kit. Results are generally available within 48 hours through email and text.
The Vault Health Saliva Test Kit
This home test kit was ready for use by May 2020. It costs $119. It requires the user to take a saliva sample. The test needs to be done under supervision. The user has to be on a Zoom call with a Vault Health technician while administering the test. They have to spit into a tube and their partnership with DoorDash makes it easy to collect the saliva Covid test. The company says that they will dispatch results within a day.
The tests costs may be reimbursed through health insurance. It is available in many U.S. cities. Both the companies have partnered with DoorDash to make it easier for the customers to take test samples at home as many skip appointments as they don’t have the means to reach the doctor’s clinic. These home kits make it easy to get tested at home, following which they could fix an appointment with the doctor or speak on the phone.
