Helen McCrory, wife of Actor Damian Lewis has passed away at 52. “I’m heartbroken to announce that after a heroic battle with cancer, the beautiful and mighty woman that is Helen McCrory has died peacefully at home, surrounded by a wave of love from friends and family,” Lewis, 50, tweeted.
The couple has two young children daughter Manon, 14, and son Gulliver, 13. The couple were married in 2007 and fell in love during the production of “Five Gold Rings” at London’s Almeida Theatre.
McCory played roles as MP Clair Dowar in the James Bond film and Polly Gray in “Peaky Blinders, “and Bellatrix Lestrange in “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.” When McCory became pregnant, Helena Bonham Carter assumed the role. McCory later returned and was casted as Narcissa Malfoy, the mother of Draco Malfoy in “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.”
After she studied at the Drama Centre London, McCrory made her stage debut in The Importance of Being Earnest in 1990. Other roles include playing Lady Macbeth in Macbeth at Shakespeare’s Globe, Olivia in Twelfth Night and Rosalind in As You Like It.
Her first film role was in 1992’s “Interview with a Vampire.”
