The Atlanta Hawks waived veteran Patty Mills on Thursday and converted the contract of fellow guard Trent Forrest from a two-way deal to a standard pact.
Mills, 35, is averaging 2.7 points, 1.1 rebounds and 10.6 minutes in 19 games off the bench this season. He is shooting 37.3 percent from the floor and 38.2 percent from 3-point range.
Mills has averages of 8.9 points and 2.2 assists in 879 career games (107 starts) with the Portland Trail Blazers, San Antonio Spurs, Brooklyn Nets and Hawks. He won the 2013-14 NBA championship with the Spurs.
Atlanta acquired Mills from the Oklahoma City Thunder on July 12, 2023.
Forrest, 25, is averaging 2.0 points, 2.1 assists and 1.3 rebounds in 20 games off the bench this season for the Hawks.
He has averages of 2.8 points, 1.7 assists and 1.5 boards in 133 career games (nine starts) with the Utah Jazz and Hawks.
