Gwyneth Paltrow appears in court today to testify in a $300,000 civil action over a 2016 ski accident that left a US optometrist, 72, with a brain injury and four fractured ribs. Sanderson was the uphill skier in the collision in a Deer Valley ski resort, according to Paltrow, who has maintained that he was the one who hit her.
In a case that was initially filed in 2019 and then amended, a Utah man claimed that Gwyneth Paltrow collided with him while he was skiing at Deer Valley Resort in 2016 and seriously injured him. The man’s trial is set to begin on Tuesday in Park City. The trial is anticipated to go on for just over a week.
Terry Sanderson, 76, claimed more than $3.1 million in damages, but the judge dismissed his initial hit-and-run claim against Oscar-winning actress celebrity actress Gwyneth Paltrow.
In her counterclaim, Paltrow seeks $1 in “symbolic damages” in addition to her legal costs.
As with any trial that involves a celebrity, the judge was concerned about the decorum in the court. He restated the regulations that had been set down in the order on February 29 that only authorized members of the media were permitted to take photos, record videos, or use mobile devices.
Despite the presence of numerous press organizations in the courtroom, Holmberg claimed that only two people had been given permission to take videos, one of which was the pool feed provided by Court TV. The judge claimed that there had already been a situation in which someone had taken photos without permission, leading to bailiff action to guarantee the photos were destroyed.
