Greg Elliott scored a game-high 23 points to lead Pitt to a 75-54 victory over host Louisville, which continued its worst start in more than 80 years on Wednesday.

Eliott shot 9 of 12 from the field, including 5 of 8 from 3-point range, and added four rebounds. Jamarius Burton had his first double-double of the season with 10 points and a season-high 11 assists.

Pitt’s Nike Sibande scored all 12 of his points in the first half, with Guillermo Diaz Graham finishing with six points and a game-high eight rebounds.

Pitt (13-6, 6-2 Atlantic Coast Conference), which has won two straight, shot 28 of 57 (49.1 percent) from the field, including 14 of 34 (41.2 percent) from 3-point range.

Meanwhile, the Cardinals (2-17, 0-8) are winless in conference play through eight games for the first time since finishing 0-11 in the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference during the 1939-1940 season.

Louisville, which has dropped eight straight overall, was led by El Ellis, who had a team-high 19 points and five assists. JJ Traynor added a career-high 14 points, while Jae’Lyn Withers finished with eight points and a team-high seven rebounds.

Brandon Huntley-Hatfield, the Cardinals’ leading rebounder (6.0 per game), missed his second straight game with an injured right foot.

The Cardinals shot 19 of 56 (33.9 percent) from the field, including 5 of 20 (25 percent) from beyond the arc.

Federiko Federiko’s layup gave Pitt a 66-49 lead with 5:25 to play.

After Louisville tied the game at 16 on Traynor’s layup with 10:11 remaining in the first half, Pitt went on a 15-2 run to take a 31-18 lead it wouldn’t relinquish on Elliott’s layup with 5:36 left in the half.

Pitt, which led 37-28 at halftime, was led by Sibande and Elliott, who scored 12 and nine points, respectively, in the first 20 minutes.

The Panthers shot 14 of 30 (46.7 percent) from the field before the break, including 7 of 17 (41.2 percent) from beyond the arc.

Louisville was led by Traynor’s seven points, with no other Cardinal scoring more than five before halftime.

The Cardinals shot 10 of 29 (34.5 percent) from the field in the first half, including 4 of 12 (33.3 percent) from distance.
