Great Osobor scored 23 points and grabbed a career-high 18 rebounds as Washington pulled out a 74-69 victory against visiting UMass Lowell on Sunday night in a nonconference game in Seattle.

Tyler Harris, Zoom Diallo and Tyree Ihenacho each scored 12 points, and Luis Kortright added 10 for the Huskies (3-1).

Yuri Covington led the River Hawks (2-2) with 19 points and Quinton Mincey contributed 13 points and 10 rebounds. Cam Morris III scored 13 before fouling out with 5:25 remaining and Max Brooks scored 10 despite playing just 18 minutes because of foul trouble.

The Huskies won despite shooting just 37 percent from the field, while the River Hawks made 44.6 percent of their attempts. Both teams were 17-of-26 from the free-throw line and struggled from distance, with UMass Lowell going 2-of-16 from 3-point range and the Huskies 3-of-16. The UW enjoyed a 53-34 rebounding edge, which led to a 25-12 advantage in second-chance points.

The River Hawks fared much better than Friday, when they lost 113-54 to No. 4 Gonzaga in Spokane, Wash.

Martin Somerville’s driving layup with 12:27 left gave the River Hawks a 44-42 lead, their first since midway through the first half.

A 3-pointer by Ihenacho broke a 53-all tie with 7:40 remaining and gave the Huskies the lead for good.

The River Hawks trailed just 63-60 after a jumper by Covington with 5:47 left, but they went scoreless over the next 4:31 as Washington extended its lead to nine points, the Huskies’ largest of the game.

The River Hawks scored the game’s first seven points, capped by a 3-pointer by Morris. They took a 13-4 lead on Morris’ alley-oop dunk off a pass from Quincy Clark with 13:38 left in the first half.

The Huskies responded with a 12-0 run, sparked by a second-chance layup by Osobor and including six points by Diallo, to take a 16-13 advantage.

The River Hawks twice tied it later in the half but couldn’t regain the lead, with Washington taking a 32-27 edge into the intermission. Diallo scored nine points in the half, and Osobor and Harris added eight apiece.

The Huskies were without center Franck Kepnang, who missed his second consecutive game with knee pain. Kepnang had each of his previous two seasons end in December because of knee injuries.
