GameStop (GME) has been back in the news recently after Roaring Kitty, Keith Gill, reappeared online in May. The company delivered results that were less than expected in its recent quarter. It also said it would sell stocks and has raised an additional $2.14 billion.
On Tuesday, GameStop said that it sold 75 million shares. It had earlier announced the sale of shares hours before Keith Gill, also known as Roaring Kitty, appeared on a live stream on YouTube on Friday. The YouTube livestream had a peak of 600,000 web fans at a given point in time and averaged about 400,000 during the entire stream.
Stock influencer Gill remained bullish about GameStop, which many have described as a meme stock. However, such has been his influence that many retailers believe in the stock, and its stock value rose to $45 per share during part of the live stream.
On Wednesday, it appeared that Keith Gill sold part of his holdings in GameStop. He last shared a screenshot of his holdings in the video games company on Monday. There was a high volume of trading and change, and it appears that Keith Gill sold part of his position.
Keith Gill would have had to raise colossal cash to exercise his 120,000 call-action contracts, which have a strike price of $20 and an expiration date of June 21. That’s why analysts, including those at CWEB, believe that he might have sold part of his GameStop holdings, as he is the largest holder of the calls that were apparently traded Wednesday.
As of early Thursday, Keith Gill has remained silent about his GameStop holdings. Earlier this month, he revealed that he had $116 million invested in the company. Keith Gill would require $240 million to acquire 12 million shares at the price of $20 each. His E-trade account did not have much money when he last shared it.
Although GameStop has raised $4 billion, its core business is shrinking. It remains a volatile stock. CWEB says the stock is for those with a gambling bend of mind as it could remain volatile for long periods. Although Keith Gill considers it bullish, CWEB analysts disagree.
