Gamers have filed an antitrust lawsuit against Microsoft in connection with the Activision Blizzard acquisition of $69 billion. Video game players are suing Microsoft over the Activision acquisition due to unfair competition. On Tuesday, Dec 20th, Microsoft was struck with a private consumer lawsuit.

A group of ten gamers sued the company over its $69 billion deal to acquire “Call of Duty” developer Activision Blizzard. They claimed that the largest-ever acquisition in the video game business would unfairly harm competition. It comes two weeks after the US Federal Trade Commission filed a petition to halt the buyout.

Microsoft, though, is supporting the proposed takeover. According to a spokeswoman, “This partnership will increase competition and produce more options for players and game developers as we strive to bring more games to more people.”

Similar issues were brought up by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) in its lawsuit about two weeks ago. The US business watchdog identified Activision as one of a select group of leading video game studios that produced top-notch titles for various platforms.

The FTC is seeking to stop  Microsoft Corp.’s Acquisition of Activision Blizzard, Inc. Agency alleges that maker of Xbox would gain control of top video game franchises, enabling it to harm competition in high-performance gaming consoles and subscription services by denying or degrading rivals’ access to its popular content. “Microsoft has already shown that it can and will withhold content from its gaming rivals,” said Holly Vedova, Director of the FTC’s Bureau of Competition. “Today we seek to stop Microsoft from gaining control over a leading independent game studio and using it to harm competition in multiple dynamic and fast-growing gaming markets.” If the deal is allowed to proceed. With control over Activision’s blockbuster franchises, Microsoft would have both the means and motive to harm competition by manipulating Activision’s pricing, degrading Activision’s game quality or player experience on rival consoles and gaming services, changing the terms and timing of access to Activision’s content, or withholding content from competitors entirely, resulting in harm to consumers.
