Gabe Kalscheur scored a game-high 25 points — going 5-for-6 from 3-point range — to lift No. 14 Iowa State to an 84-50 rout of visiting Texas Tech on Tuesday night in Ames, Iowa.

The Cyclones (13-2, 4-0 Big 12) stretched their winning streak to a season-best six games entering Saturday’s visit to second-ranked Kansas.

Texas Tech (10-6, 0-4) has lost four in a row, all in conference play. The Red Raiders are 0-4 in the Big 12 for the first time since the 2014-15 team lost its first six league games.

Iowa State shot 12-for-22 from deep, while Texas Tech went 5-for-26.

Texas Tech never led beyond the opening stages and trailed by 19 at the half. The Red Raiders committed 19 turnovers and had only two players score in double digits — De’Vion Harmon (14 points) and Pop Isaacs (10).

Jaren Holmes scored 15 points for the Cyclones, Caleb Grill hit half of his eight 3-point attempts en route to 14 points, and Tamin Lipsey contributed nine points and eight assists.

Success from long range proved a difference-maker from the start, as the Cyclones took a 39-20 lead into the break behind a 7-for-13 showing from deep. That compared to the Red Raiders’ 2-for-11 effort.

Iowa State punctuated a 20-3 run to end the half with Kalscheur’s buzzer-beating trey moments after Isaacs traveled to turn the ball over. Kalscheur, who grabbed a game-best seven rebounds, led all scorers with 15 points at the break on 6-for-9 shooting.

After a Harmon layup trimmed the Texas Tech deficit to two points at 19-17 with 8:17 left in the half, the Red Raiders didn’t score another point for the next 5:39.

Playing with his fingers taped up as he returned from a one-game absence with an injured right hand, Texas Tech leading rebounder Daniel Batcho scored four points and grabbed three boards for the Red Raiders in 32 minutes.

The Red Raiders fell to 0-4 against ranked opponents and 0-2 in true road games this season.

With the victory, Iowa State claimed a 22-21 edge in the all-time series.
