Fresh Kills:Movie Review
Jennifer Esposito, known for her roles in “Blue Bloods,” “Summer Of Sam,” and “Crash,” makes a striking debut as a writer-director with “Fresh Kills.” Set against the gritty backdrop of late 1980s Staten Island, the film brings to life the world of Rose Larusso, portrayed by the talented Emily Bader.
Rose is a curious young girl whose world is turned upside down when she discovers that her father (Domenick Lombardozzi) is becoming a powerful mafia kingpin.
As Rose grapples with this revelation, her desire to carve out her path grows, putting her at odds with her family and the dangerous life they lead.
This internal struggle and quest for independence create tension with her closest allies: her protective mother Francine (played by Esposito herself), her sister Connie (Odessa A’zion), and her aunt Christine (Annabella Sciorra).
