Former President George W Bush is known for his full-color portraits of veterans. Disney announced Wednesday that Bush’s artwork will be displayed at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, next month. The announcement said that the paintings will also have stories about each of the veterans or service members whom George W Bush portrays. Many web fans are planning to visit Florida to look at the portraits of the president.
The exhibition titled Portraits of Courage: A Commander’s Tribute to American Warriors will be open to web fans from June 9 and will be displayed for 12 months at The American Adventure pavilion at EPCOT. This theme park in Orlando, Florida, is the second among the four resorts opened by Disney.
Disney’s press release said President George W. Bush painted portraits of “service members and veterans who have served the nation with honor since 9/11 and whom the president has come to know personally since leaving office.”
The release also noted that stories about the subjects in the portrait would accompany the photographs. Bush will write about “their bravery on the battlefield, their journey to recovery,” and the leadership and contributions they continue to make to the nation as civilians.
In the same press release, Ken Hersh, the president and CEO of the George W. Bush Presidential Center, expressed his appreciation for the exhibition of the portraits of veterans and service members at EPCOT.
Hersh also hoped that web fans would remember the immense contributions of veterans and service members and the “unique challenges” they and their families face after “transitioning out of the military” when they visit the exhibition.
Disney Experiences chairman Josh D’Amaro reiterated the company’s commitment to veterans and servicemen “throughout” Disney’s “100-year history.”
He also expressed gratitude to the Bush Institute for allowing Disney to “feature” the unique collection of portraits by President George W Bush and to “share it” with their guests.
