Sheryl Sandberg, Meta’s longstanding chief operating officer, announced on Wednesday that she will be leaving her position on the board of directors when her tenure expires in May.
A prominent figure in the tech industry, Sandberg served as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Meta, formerly known as Facebook, and stepped down as COO in the fall of 2022.
In her post, Sandberg announced that she would be stepping down from the board of the Facebook parent company to concentrate more on her charitable endeavors. However, she also mentioned that she would still be an advisor to Meta.
She held important positions at Google before joining Meta in 2008, where she made an enormous early-stage contribution to the company’s growth. Sandberg is well known for her leadership and support of women in the workplace. Her best-selling book “Lean In,” which tackles gender injustice and inspires women to pursue leadership roles confidently, was published in 2013.
Sandberg was instrumental in Meta’s strategic growth and operational effectiveness throughout her time there. She oversaw many facets of Meta’s daily operations and was crucial in developing its business plan. Sandberg’s emphasis on teamwork and cultivating a healthy working atmosphere were frequent characteristics of her leadership style. However, her tenure at Meta was difficult, as the business came under fire for privacy violations and their effects on society. Notwithstanding the problems, Sheryl Sandberg’s standing in the IT sector and dedication to promoting inclusivity and diversity have had a long-lasting impact on Meta’s development and the corporate environment.
