Susan Louise Lorincz was detained after a neighborhood dispute in Florida turned into a fatal shooting. The tragedy has horrified the neighborhood and brought to light the terrible consequences that can result from unsolved disputes.
The Neighborhood Conflict: Susan Louise Lorincz and her neighbor had been engaged in a long-running argument when the incident occurred in their peaceful suburban neighborhood.
The sheriff’s office claims that Lorincz, a white woman, fatally shot Ajike “AJ” Owens, a Black lady, through a door in Ocala on Friday night.

The Owens family’s civil rights attorney, Ben Crump, and others have urged an arrest and questioned both Florida’s “stand your ground” self-defense law and issues of race.
On a Friday, the shooting took place at 9 p.m. The sheriff’s office claimed that over time, Lorincz had grown irate about Owens’ children playing in a nearby field and had “engaged in an argument” with them.
According to the sheriff’s office, Lorincz hurled a roller skate at Owens’ 10-year-old son during the dispute and then swung an umbrella at him and a sibling. The sheriff’s office claims that after numerous knocks on Lorincz’s door, Owens was shot through the door.
Owens died after being shot in the upper chest. The sheriff’s office mentioned in a statement that Lorincz told detectives she used self-defense and that Owens had been attempting to break down her door before she fired her gun.
