At a news conference, Melissa Nelson, the state attorney for Florida’s Fourth Judicial District, and Jacksonville Beach Police Chief Gene Paul Smith said that Bridegan’s ex-wife’s husband had been accused of killing Jared Bridegan.
After dropping off his two oldest children at the home of his ex-wife, Bridegan was shot and killed in Jacksonville Beach. He was attacked, according to the detectives, after stopping to remove a tire from the road.
In connection with the February 2022 slaying of 33-year-old Jared Bridegan, his wife’s ex-husband, Mario Fernandez is accused of first-degree murder, conspiracy, and child abuse. In connection with the shooting death of Bridegan, Fernandez, 34, was detained in March and charged with first-degree murder with a weapon, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, solicitation to commit a capital crime, and child abuse. Fernandez is suspected of organizing the murder plot that resulted in Bridegan’s death.
In connection with the death of Mr. Bridegan, Henry Tenon, 61, was charged with conspiracy to commit murder, second-degree murder with a weapon, accessory after the fact to a capital offense, and felony child abuse.
However, what relationship does Mr. Tenon have with Mr. Bridegan, and why do the police think he wasn’t acting alone? “We know that Henry Tenon did not act alone,” Mrs. Nelson said during the police press conference.
Fernandez-Saldana, according to the prosecution, “was integral to the solicitation, conspiracy, and murder of Bridegan.”
State Attorney Melissa Nelson stated at a news conference on Thursday that they claim to have been led to him by another suspect in the case who Fernandez-Saldana solicited to conduct the crime and who acknowledged squeezing the trigger. That individual had recently admitted guilt for his part in Bridegan’s murder.
Fernandez entered a not guilty plea to the allegations against him at his arraignment, and the prosecution has stated that no plea deal is being offered to him.
Although Bridegan and his ex-wife split in 2015, they had legal disputes about their finances and the custody of their twin children.
Jared Bridegan’s ex-wife,Shanna Gardner-Fernandez has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with what Florida prosecutors have dubbed the “cold, calculated, and premeditated murder” of the father-of-four, Jared Bridegan.
According to the prosecution, a grand jury on Thursday indicted Shanna Gardner-Fernandez for first-degree murder, a capital offense, as well as conspiracy to conduct first-degree murder and child abuse.
Ms. Gardner-Fernandez denies any claims of rumors that that their professional relationship turned intimate a few months into their training sessions. Investigators revealed a connection between Mr. Tenon and Mr. Bridegan’s ex-wife, Ms. Gardner-Fernandez. Police said that Mr. Tenon was living at a home in Jacksonville that was owned by Mario Fernandez, Ms. Gardner-Fernandez’s husband at the time of the murder. Tenon pleaded guilty to second-degree murder with a weapon and agreed to “testify truthfully against any accomplice” immediately before Fernandez-Saldana was arrested, the state attorney’s office said.
After her divorce from Mr. Bridegan, Ms. Gardner-Fernandez married Mario Fernandez and it was reported that she relocated her family to southeastern Washington state, but her husband did not make a move with her. The crime was perpetrated by Ms. Gardner-Fernandez’s new husband, Mr. Fernandez Saldana, for “pecuniary gain” and in a “cold calculated and premeditated manner without any pretense of moral or legal justification,” according to the prosecution.
