A family sues Panera Bread over death over a boosted caffeine drink. Lemonade from Panera Bread, boosted by caffeine, is mentioned in another wrongful death complaint, which is the second lawsuit against the company.

The family of a 46-year-old Florida man who passed away after consuming Panera’s caffeinated lemonade feels that the beverage played a role in his demise.

As per the complaint, Dennis Brown passed away on October 9th, following his consumption of three cups of Panera’s Charged Lemonade. Following Brown’s passing, his family is suing the restaurant chain, claiming that the Charged Lemonade is “dangerous.”

46-year-old Fleming Island, Florida resident Dennis Brown’s family claims that on October 9, after working a shift at Publix, the man drank three of the Charged Lemonades.

According to the lawsuit, despite having a chromosomal defect order, developmental delay, and ADHD, Brown, 46, lived alone and worked for almost 17 years as a grocery store employee. It also said that he did not use energy drinks and had high blood pressure.

Panera faces allegations of fraud, carelessness, and wrongful death in addition to deceiving consumers into believing that the “Charged Lemonades” are “clean,” “safe,” and “plant based.”

According to the lawsuit, 390 milligrams of caffeine may be found in a 30-ounce Charged Lemonade, which is more than you’ll get from consuming a 12-ounce Red Bull and a 16-ounce Monster Energy Drink in one sitting. The FDA recommends a maximum daily intake of 400 milligrams of caffeine.

Panera had promised that it would state new disclosures about the Charged Lemonade to let customers be aware of the high caffeine content—but should they even be selling this drink when their brand talks about providing healthy food?
