Formula 1 will continue to race in Barcelona for another six years after it struck a deal that calls for the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya to alternate hosting with the Belgian Grand Prix.

A Grand Prix was already scheduled for the Spanish city in 2026, and the new extension confirms F1 will return in 2028, 2030 and 2032, alternating with Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium.

The race will be re-named as the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix.

“Barcelona is an incredible city, and the Formula 1 fans there always welcome us with such passion, so I am delighted that we will continue to race at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya for years to come,” F1 president and CEO Stefano Domenicali said.

In a statement announcing the agreement, F1 noted the improvements in recent years to the facilities at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, which was built for the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games, including the construction of new hospitality spaces and the addition of solar panels.

F1 also announced the fan festival in Placa de Catalunya ahead of the Grand Prix weekend will return in 2026.

“The team have invested heavily in the circuit and hosted fantastic fan festivals in recent years, so we look forward to seeing how they continue to develop the experience, both for attendees at the race and for the city as a whole,” Domenicali said.

The new F1 season kicks off March 8 with the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne.
