In response to an explosion at the Hoover Dam in Nevada, a fire was put out, the city of Boulder stated in a tweet on Tuesday. A video taken by a visitor to the location suggests that the fire may have started in a structure close to the dam’s base. Police haven’t yet established out where on the dam the explosion happened, yet.
The highest concrete arch dam in the United States is the Hoover Dam, which was built between 1930 and 1936 and is located in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River on the border between Nevada and Arizona.
The National Historic Landmark is situated in the Black Canyon on the Colorado River, and is as tall as a 60-story building, according to the National Park Service. Construction started in 1931 and was completed in 1935. Its purpose was to allow floodwaters from the United States’ largest man-made lake to flow in a controlled manner, saving California and Arizona from the disastrous flooding the Colorado River was famous for at the time.
According to the city, its fire department responded to an emergency call, but the fire was extinguished before they arrived. The dam creates Lake Mead, the largest man-made water reservoir in the US, which provides water to parts of Mexico and the states of Arizona, California, Utah, Colorado, and Nevada., which is in charge of managing water in the Western United States.
