Croatian big man Zvonimir Ivisic is joining Kentucky in time for the 2023-24 basketball season, he announced Tuesday on social media.

“I got the offer for scholarship by Coach [John] Calipari to attend the University of Kentucky,” Ivisic wrote on his Instagram post. “I’m excited to tell that I accepted the scholarship and I will play there next season. Go Big Blue!”

The 7-foot-2, 220-pound Ivisic is a strong shot blocker but he also thrives offensively from long distance. He entered his name in the past two NBA drafts before withdrawing.

Ivisic, 19, played the past two seasons with Montenegro-based SC Derby of Europe’s ABA League. He also represented Croatia in the FIBA U20 European Championship this summer and averaged 11.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.4 blocks per game.

Kentucky currently is without two big men — Aaron Bradshaw and Ugonna Onyenso — who are recovering from foot injuries. Both are expected to be cleared to play before the regular season begins this fall.

Per 247Sports, the Wildcats have the No. 1 recruiting class of 2023, headlined by the 7-0 Bradshaw and two fellow five-star prospects, guard DJ Wagner and power forward Justin Edwards of Philadelphia. Wagner and Bradshaw were teammates at New Jersey’s Camden High School.
